Idle Echoes
Privacy Policy
Last updated 4 August 2026. What we collect, why, and what you can do about it.
The short version
- We collect your email address, your game data, and what you write in chat. That is about it.
- No ads, no tracking, no analytics, and we never sell anything about you.
- Chat messages are deleted after 30 days.
- Delete your account in the game's settings and your data goes with it, 30 days later.
- Ask us any time for a copy of your data, a correction, or its deletion.
Written to be readable, so it leaves things out. The numbered sections below are the ones that count.
01Who is responsible
Idle Echoes, run by two brothers in Sweden, is the controller of the personal data described here. Access to it is limited to the people who build and run the game. Contact: hello@idle-echoes.com. If you need our full legal details, for a complaint or anything else, ask and we will give them.
02What we collect
Only what running the game needs:
- Your email address, and a password we never see in readable form. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive the email address on that account.
- Your game data: your character, and what it has done and owns.
- What you write: chat messages, the names you choose, and, if a message is reported, a copy of it kept on the report with who sent it and who reported it. Also who you have blocked, which only you can see.
- A device notification token, if you turn on push notifications.
- Technical records our hosting creates as you connect, including IP address and timestamps.
- If you join the beta queue without an account: only the email address you give us, and optionally the platform you play on and one line about yourself if you choose to add it.
03Why we collect it, and on what basis
To give you an account and run the game for you. That is our contract with you, and without this data there is no account.
To keep the game fair and working: spotting cheating, diagnosing faults, and balancing the game. That is our legitimate interest in a game that functions.
To keep chat usable: filtering slurs, acting on reports, and letting you block people. That is our legitimate interest, and the app stores require it of any app with player chat.
To send push notifications, if you turn them on. That is your consent, and you can withdraw it in the game's settings or your device's.
To send you a beta key, if you joined the queue. That is your consent. We use that address for the invite and nothing else, and you can ask us to remove you at any time by writing to the address above.
04Who else handles it
Running a game online means other companies handle parts of it: hosting and databases, email delivery, push notifications, whichever sign-in provider you choose, and the app store you install from. Each may only process your data on our instructions, under a contract requiring protection at least as strong as this policy promises, and never for anything of their own.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for advertising.
Some of these companies are based outside the EU, or store data there. Where that happens, the transfer relies on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses or an equivalent safeguard.
05How long we keep it
Your account and game data for as long as your account exists.
When you delete your account it stops working immediately and is deleted 30 days later. Signing in during those 30 days cancels it and restores your character, so a mis-tap or a stolen account is never final. After that it cannot be recovered.
Chat messages for 30 days. A reported message is kept as a copy on the report for as long as the report exists. Deleting your account deletes both the reports you filed and the reports filed about you.
A beta queue address until testing ends, or until you ask us to remove it, whichever comes first. Nothing else is kept with it.
Records of what happened in the game are kept with any link to you removed, so they no longer identify you. Backups roll off on their own schedule, so a deleted account can persist in a backup briefly before being overwritten.
06What you can do
Under the GDPR you can ask us to:
- Give you a copy of your data.
- Correct it if it is wrong.
- Delete it. You can do this yourself, immediately, from the game's settings.
- Restrict or object to how we use it.
- Send it to another service, where that applies.
07Complaints
Write to us first at hello@idle-echoes.com and we will try to sort it out. You also have the right to complain to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY), or to the equivalent authority where you live.
09Children
Idle Echoes is not for children under 13.
10Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date above, and tell you in the game if the change is material.
