How it works
Three things to know

It fights for you
No rotations, no APM, no buttons to mash. You build the thing and it does the fighting.

It runs without you
Close the tab, go do something else. Come back to a full bag and a couple of levels, or to the news that your Echo died out there without you.

Everyone can reach you
Every zone outside town is open PvP. There's no flag to switch off and nowhere to hide.
From the game
This is a run
The fight
You build the fighter
You'll never press an attack button. Every decision you make happens before the fight: gear, stats, weapon, how deep to push, when to bail.

Power
Gear does the heavy lifting
Affixes roll, rarity climbs, and one good drop can flip a whole run. Stats multiply what your gear already gives you, so they matter without being the main event.

Build decisions
Your weapon is an ability
Every greatsword Sanctions. Every axe opens a wound. It comes with the weapon type, guaranteed, so picking one is a build choice and not a lottery ticket.

The world past the wardstone
Ten zones, one hundred rungs
Every zone has ten difficulty rungs, and each one is the same deal but worse. Better gear, richer veins, nastier things guarding both. Clear a zone's last rung and the next one opens.

Open world PvP
Town is safe. Nowhere else is.
The world decides when two players meet, not you. No flagging, no safe server, no opting out short of staying in town. Lose and your PK rating takes the hit, and whoever beat you might walk off wearing a copy of your sword.

Resonance
They're wearing your next upgrade
Nothing spills out of a corpse here. Whatever you're fighting is wearing its loot, you can see it mid-fight, and you call the piece you want before the kill. Focus it and the odds double. Most fights give you nothing. Then one hands you the sword that was just hitting you.

The Echo Arena
Choose your fight
Out in the zones, PvP finds you. In here you go looking: pull a board of challengers in your rating band and pick your fight. Your Echo defends the ladder while you're asleep too, so climbing it means people come for you.
Five ticketsOne every two hours, awake or not.
Weekly gloryThe ladder resets Monday.
Five divisionsYour band is your opponent pool.

Who you were before the charter
Four ways into the Heartlands
Who your Echo used to be, not a class. What it turns into depends on what you drag back out of the zones.
Charter-BornRaised within the wardstone's reach.
WildbornThe fringe taught you what the zones teach the careless, only cheaper.
Accord LegacyYour grandparents wore that coat for an empire that abandoned them.
Fringe OutlawThe city-states collapsed around you.
Fair questions
Is it really free?
Yep. It's in closed testing right now, so you need a key to get in, and you can join the queue on this page. Nothing's paywalled today, and nothing's planned to be.
Do I have to keep it open?
Nope. Tab closed, phone asleep, still fighting. That's the entire pitch.
What do I actually do?
You decide what your Echo walks in with: gear, stats, weapon type, potions, how deep to push and when to pull out. Then you watch it play out.
Can I avoid PvP?
Only by staying in town, and there's no loot in town. Every combat zone is open.
Is there crafting?
Alchemy. You learn a brew by brewing it instead of finding a recipe, paid for with reagents from the zone you pulled them out of, and a recipe never stops getting better. Potions only work out in the zones. PvP clamps them, because gear should decide those fights.
Can I play on my phone?
The browser version works on mobile today. Native iOS and Android builds exist and are in invite-only testing. Same character either way.
Everything else — how combat resolves, what each zone holds, what the numbers on an item mean — is in the wiki.
